Senator David Norris

In the Republic of Ireland, where abortions remain against the law, David Norris is an adored senator who happens to be gay. Senator Norris took his lunch break with us in Merrion Square in central Dublin. He was in the final stages of pushing for the enactment of Civil Partnerships for same-sex couples, which he feels do not signify true equality. He gets personal when reflecting on all the rites of passage he was not privy to as a closeted youth and how this inspired him to lead the movement to decriminalize homosexuality in Ireland.
